Matty ‘J’ Johnson and Laura Byrne have surprised their followers with the announcement that they are expecting their third child together. The couple, who famously met on The Bachelor in 2017, shared the exciting news on their respective podcasts on Wednesday morning. Laura told her Life Uncut listeners that she had been “keeping a little secret for quite some time” and was 18 weeks pregnant.
She explained that after years of going back and forth about having a third child, she and Matt got “on the same page” over Christmas. “You guys know that Matt and I have been talking a lot about whether or not we were going to have baby number three, and it turns out we’re having baby number three!” she announced. “I wasn't able to tell Matt for ages. The whole time he was in the jungle, I wasn't able to tell him,” she detailed. “I didn't want to tell him there [in South Africa], and then when we came back, we had to wait for the finale because it hadn't aired on TV yet.
“I didn't want to tell him until after all of the excitement and all of the kind of craziness of I'm A Celebrity had ended [because] I didn't want to take away from an experience that he was having and kind of like, experience top it with another thing. And I also wanted him to have some time to process what a huge thing he'd just been through. “I didn't really know what was the right time to tell him.
So I knew for two and a half months before I told Matt that I was pregnant.” Matty J's announcement Meanwhile, Matty announced on his podcast, Two Doting Dads , that he and Laura were expecting their third child in October. He told his co-host Ash Wicks that they wanted to have baby number three this year so they were close in age to their two eldest children, Marlie-Mae, 5, and Lola, 4.
“We were trying before I went into the jungle,” he shared. “The plan was, we said this year 2025, if we were going to have a third, this will be the year that it happens. “I’m conscious that Marlie and Lola are really close together, they’re about 18 months [apart] and Lola just turned four, so I was like, if it doesn’t happen this year, it’s a big gap.
We want the third child to still be friends with Marlie and Lola.” In addition to the podcast announcements, Laura and Matty shared an adorable video of their daughter, Lola, announcing the news on Instagram. “We are SO SO SO EXCITED!!!! Johnson #3 under construction,” they captioned the post.
SHOP: The couple fell in love on the fifth season of The Bachelor in 2017 and tied the knot in 2022. They recently purchased a 'dilapidated' house on the South Coast for $2.19 million and have been documenting the renovation process on social media.
