MHS boys tennis claims two wins indoors in Sioux Falls

Apr. 29—SIOUX FALLS — Mitchell High School won a pair of boys tennis duals on Monday, improving to 10-5 this season in head-to-head competitions.The Kernels won 8-1 over Sioux Falls Washington and 5-4 over Aberdeen Central, repeating a 5-4 win from earlier in the season against the Golden Eagles.

The matches were played at the Huether Match Pointe indoor facility due to the weather.Against the Warriors, Mitchell's Luke Jerke, Asher Dannenbring, Cooper Star, Dawson Adams and Sutton Thompson all won their matches 10-0, without giving up a game. Star and Thompson did the same at Flight 2 doubles, while Dannenbring and Adams won 10-0 at Flight 3.



Unlike the matchup on April 17, Mitchell won two of the three doubles matches against Aberdeen Central to tip the contest in their favor. On Tuesday, Mitchell and Aberdeen Central split the six singles matches by a 3-3 margin. Jerke, Dannenbring and Adams were winners in singles play, while Star and Thompson and Dannenbring and Adams were winners in doubles play.

Mitchell will be in action next with a home quadrangular on Monday, May 5 against Pierre, Vermillion and Yankton. The action starts at 10 a.m.
