The Grammy winner put her signature glam-rock spin on this year's Dandyism-inspired theme

Miley Cyrus delivered something beautiful at the 2025 Met Gala . The singer, 32, embraced the theme of "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" on Monday, May 5, in a daring ensemble that was easily in the top ranking for best interpretation of the "Tailored for You" dress code. Cyrus wore custom Alaïa by Pieter Mulier and jewelry by Cartier, including a stacked three-ring necklace.

The outfit is a mixture of textures, with a revealing leather crop top and a tailored skirt that pleats out at the bottom. On the Vogue event's red carpet, the singer said the theme means "celebrating identity and uniqueness" and "challenging what's expected of you and going beyond." "Really being proud of yourself and how you show up," Cyrus continued.

"I think of these gowns as, like, armor. It's a representation of power and strength. That's how I feel about fashion.

So I love seeing everyone's way that they're showing up and presenting that power." Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity , explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.” The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram .

The Met Gala's dress code — which is slightly different from the theme — is “Tailored for You.” It is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. The gala also has a star-studded host committee: Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens , as well as Doechii , Regina King , Spike Lee , Angel Reese and Usher .
