This new path replaces the previous route along Jalan North Yu Seng and aims to offer a more engaging and scenic experience for participants, said Mayor Adam Yii during a press conference yesterday.“The change supports our goal of reducing carbon emissions while offering a healthier, more active lifestyle through recreational and community activities,” he said.Yii added that the event plays a key role in steering Miri toward becoming a low-carbon city and promoting a culture of healthy living through physical activities such as walking, running, cycling, and group exercises.

“The programme also fosters a clean and safe public environment that supports health and well-being. It empowers the public to manage their health through screenings and educational exhibitions while strengthening community bonds through collaborations with government agencies, NGOs, private organisations, and local residents,” he added.A variety of engaging activities are lined up in conjunction with the city’s 20th anniversary, including a fun run, and traditional games such as ‘baling selipar’, ‘galah panjang’, ‘ketinting’ and lompat tali.

Other highlights include sports demonstrations like taekwondo, tai chi, traditional archery, and pickleball, as well as free health screenings under the health awareness initiatives.Booths will also be set up by various agencies and departments, including Miri City Council’s Public Cleansing and Maintenance Section (rabies and dog licensing), Public Health Division, Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Miri District National Anti-Drugs Agency; Eye One Recycle (Miri) Sdn Bhd, and Sekitar Bumi Hijau Sdn Bhd.In addition, there will be a payment counter for assessment tax and parking compound settlements.
