Motorbike and car pile up on major A road leaves man with serious injuries

A crash involving a motorbike and three cars on a major A road that saw an air ambulance land has left a man in his 20s with serious injuries.

The collision was reported at around 2.35pm on Easter Monday, April 21, on the A36 near Upton Scudamore, to the northwest of Warminster. Police have said the collision involved a motorcycle and three cars.

They added that the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, suffered “serious injuries”, although they are not thought to be life changing. The force added that no arrests had been made. Yesterday, officers said A36 route was blocked following the incident, with long tailbacks forming.



Officers advised drivers to stay away from the area, but confirmed that the route was opened by 5pm. The ambulance service sent multiple vehicles including, as well as a tactical advisor and operations officer. The service confirmed that one person was flown to Southmead Hospital in Bristol via air ambulance.

“No arrests were made.” A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 14:34hrs on Monday 21 April to a road traffic collision near Warminster. “We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a tactical commander to the scene.

“We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital.”.
