Kisii RFC booked their spot in the semi-finals of the KRU Nationwide League after a commanding 17-0 victory over Kenya Coastal National Polytechnic on Saturday . The former Kenya Cup and Nationwide campaigners put on a solid defensive display, keeping a clean sheet on the road. They scored two tries, a penalty, and successfully converted twice to seal the win.
Centre Carillary Namare and Nyasani crossed the whitewash for Kisii, while Walter Aiko was flawless with the boot, slotting home two conversions and a penalty for a personal haul of seven points. Kisii were joined in the last four by fellow Western region side Sigalagala Polytechnic, who edged NYS Spades 6-3 in a tight contest. Western Champions Sigalagala, making a return to the semi-finals after two consecutive eliminations at the same stage, will be hoping to go one better this season and secure promotion to the Championship.
In other quarter-final action, Central Region champions Kenya Prisons overcame Stallions Rugby 9-6 in another hard-fought clash decided by penalty kicks. Administration Police completed the semi-final lineup, pulling off an impressive 20-18 win away to Kabarak University. The semi-final matchups are scheduled for next weekend, with all four teams battling for a place in the Championship.
