Tap & Tandoor has taken over the former Wildwood site on Richmond Hill and welcomed guests at an official launch night on April 16. The Indian gastro-pub specialises in craft beers, cocktails and Indian food alongside live sports, shuffleboard and darts. Founder, Ajay Kenth, said he is bringing the business to Bournemouth to “elevate the area” and offer something new.
“It is all about delivering that great experience from the moment they book the table to the moment they leave,” said Ajay. He added: “We live in such a competitive time to give value to customers. “People are coming to use to spend two hours and spend money, it’s a great compliment.
“In return we give them a great experience.” Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor George Farquhar, attended the event with Ajay stating it was good to have his “seal of approval”. Cllr Farquhar said he was “really pleased to welcome Tap & Tandoor to Bournemouth” and that he was enthused to see a new venue in the town.
He added that the gastropub adds a different offering and brings a variety to Bournemouth. Bournemouth town Centre BID chief operating officer, Paul Kinvig, said: “It’s wonderful to see another business positively investing in the town centre. “A business with a track record of success and they chose to come to Bournemouth.
” Mr Kinvig said the business portrays the changing nature of the town centre and that ‘anyone who offers an experience is great’. He added that Tap & Tandoor have adapted the venue “really well” and have chosen a good time to open with the summer season approaching. “It gives a reason for people to come to the town centre and a reason to stay.
” Tap & Tandoor Bournemouth is spaced over two floors with daytime dining downstairs and further dining upstairs with space for functions and events. The games area offers darts and shuffleboard with plenty of space to socialise. The site is the fifth Tap & Tandoor restaurant in the country, with sites in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth; Westquay, Southampton; Queensgate, Peterborough; and Warwick Road, Solihull.
The pub will open at 12pm seven days a week, serving food until 10pm and drinks until midnight..
