Cricket Association of Bengal doesn't want Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull to commentate in matches to be played at the Eden Gardens. In a surprising development, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has reportedly written a letter to the BCCI asking the board to not include celebrated commentators Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull among its panel for any of the matches to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. As per a report in RevSportz , CAB has shot off a “strong letter" to the Indian cricket board following the criticism of its pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee by Bhogle and Doull for denying KKR home advantage.
At the start of the season, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane had indicated that he would be more inclined to play on pitches at home that will be helpful to his spinners. KKR play their home games of IPL at Eden Gardens. In response Doull, a former New Zealand fast bowler, had said during a discussion on Cricbuzz that KKR shouldn’t shy away from shifting their home base if their demands for a friendly pitch aren’t met.
CAB reportedly is siding with their Sujan, citing the BCCI rulebook which states that the franchises will not have any say in deciding the nature of the pitch. The association says the curator has prepared the pitch as per the board guidelines. While the BCCI is yet to respond to the letter, it’s been reported that neither Bhogale nor Doull will be at the Eden Gardens for the IPL 2025 match between KKR and Gujarat Titans slated to be held on Monday.
The final of the ongoing season is scheduled to be held at Eden Gardens. Recently, Rahane had refused to answer query over the pitch, citing the potential of a controversy. “There is enough talk about the wicket.
You guys have given enough publicity to it. If I say something it will become controversial. Our curator has got a lot of publicity, and I think he is happy with that publicity.
You can write anything about home advantage. If I feel something, I will tell IPL rather than talking here," said Rahane..
