Read More A new animal rescue and rehabilitation centre is set to come up near the Noida International Greenfield Airport , as part of a plan by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The idea is to reduce the impact of airport development on local wildlife. The proposed site is close to the Dhanauri wetland, an area rich in biodiversity.
The first phase of the airport covers 1,334 hectares and lies near six villages that are home to animals like the Nilgai, Blackbuck, Indian Gazelle, Monkey, Golden Jackal, Jungle Cat, and even Sarus Cranes – India’s tallest flying birds. The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, has recommended building this centre alongside other conservation efforts to help protect the local ecosystem. Size & Location: The centre will spread across 10 hectares, with land provided by both YEIDA and the forest department.
Structure & Tenure: Originally planned as a temporary set-up, the centre will now be given a 30-year lease, showing long-term commitment to wildlife care. Construction Tender: A global tender has already been floated to find the right team to build and manage the centre, as per India Today. The total cost of the centre is estimated at Rs 3.
