Organisers say the event, on Saturday, May 3, at 7pm in the New Life Baptist Church, on High Street, Northallerton, promises to be a rousing evening of remembrance, music, and community spirit - and a tribute to those who served and made sacrifices during the Secon World War. Under the direction of musical director Stuart Shields, the band will perform a selection of classic favourites and patriotic pieces such as We'll Meet Again, The White Cliffs of Dover, and I vow to thee my country. With lyrics provided, concertgoers will be warmly encouraged to sing along.
Tickets for the VE Day 80 concert cost £8 and are available in advance from band members or may be bought on the door - 1940s outfits are optional. A spokesperson for the band, which has a history dating back to 1797, said: "This concert not only honours the past but also celebrates the enduring power of music to bring communities together in remembrance and joy.".
