Popular Santa Monica sandwich shop Bread Head is expanding with new locations in Manhattan Beach and Westwood : The Manhattan Beach location is slated to open in May 2025 , while the Westwood location is still under development. The first location of Bread Head opened in Santa Monica in 2024 after operating as a pop-up. The restaurant comes from Trois Mec veteran chefs Alex Williams and Jordan Snyder, who developed Bread Head’s signature bread that falls somewhere between focaccia and ciabatta.
Bread Head is part of the Bread Head Restaurant Group, which is owned by the two chefs, former Night + Market operations director Michael Pasternak, and Venice Brands founder Greg Willsey. Bread Head’s sandwiches come stacked on its airy and chewy bread, loaded with ingredients like cured meats, cheese, and vegetables. Try the simple ham and butter, or the fully-loaded muffaletta with salami, mortadella, Swiss, and more.
Rotating daily specials correspond to the days of the week, like a Monday meatball sandwich, and a Cubano that’s only available on Wednesdays. This expansion seems like it's just the beginning for the Bread Head Restaurant Group. “Let’s grow this into the next sandwich chain,” Williams told Eater in June 2024.
