The Centre for Judicial Studies (CEJ) has received more than a thousand applications for the 181 places on the magistrate training course that opens at the end of the year.

Of the total number of candidates, 895 initially expressed a preference for a magistracy, with 663 candidates interested in pursuing a judicial magistracy and 232 candidates with a preference for the Public Prosecutor's Office magistracy. The more than a thousand candidates will now take the tests in Lisbon (411), Porto (526) and Coimbra (135) and will then be ranked according to the results obtained to fill the 181 vacancies available for the 42nd CEJ training course, which closed the application process on April 10. By order, the Ministry of Justice determined the opening of 75 vacancies for the judicial magistracy, 52 at the CEJ headquarters in Lisbon and 23 at the new center in Vila do Conde.

For the magistracy of the administrative and tax courts, 31 vacancies were opened, all in Lisbon, and for the magistracy of the Public Prosecutor's Office, 75 vacancies were opened, 52 in Lisbon and 23 in Vila do Conde. The 181 vacancies available for the magistrate training course, which is due to start in the last four months of 2025, represent an increase in relation to the 135 vacancies available for the 2024 course. The course should start at the end of the third quarter of the year or the beginning of the fourth quarter.
