The No. 11 USCA golf team stands in second place after day two of the PBC Championship, which is being played at Forest Hills Golf Club. Head coach Michael Carlisle's team was led by Nick Goellner's three-under par, 141.
He is tied for fourth. Goellner shot two-under par, 70, on Saturday. Mitchell McNeill soared four spots and stands in a tie for sixth place with teammate Erik Olin.
They are tied at two-under par, 142. McNeill opened the tournament at even-par, 72, before firing a two-under par, 70, Saturday. Olin finished the day at two-under par, 142.
He recorded a one-over par, 73, for the second round of competition. Oscar Abrahamsson moved up four spots and is tied for 15th. He shot even-par, 72, on Saturday and stands at two-over par, 146, through 36 holes of competition.
Karl Frisk is tied for 27th at five-over par, 149. After opening with a 76 on Friday, he tallied a one-over par, 73, for the second round of action. USC Beaufort leads the field at 15-under par, 561.
The Pacers are second at five-under par, 571. Georgia Southwestern is third at one-under par, 575. Flagler is fourth at even-par, 576.
North Georgia is fifth (+2, 578) while Columbus State (+10, 586), Lander (+19, 595) and Georgia College (+27, 603) complete the eight-team field. The Pacers return to action tomorrow for the final round of action at the PBC Championship. USCA softball completes sweep of USCB The USCA softball team finished off the sweep of USC Beaufort with wins by scores of 6-5 and 10-1.
The Pacers are now 28-24 on the year, including 13-11 in PBC play. Head coach Jaclin Poole's team jumped on the board in the second inning with a run. Anna Turner singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Mollie Rollings.
After moving to third on a fielder's choice, Turner raced home when Lydia Johnson registered a sacrifice fly. Mallory Shaver led off the fourth with a walk and moved to third on a single by Rollings and an error on the play. Alexis Stout lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, knocking in Shaver.
Ashlyn White posted a single in the fifth and hustled to second on the sacrifice bunt from Peri Rouillard. Autumn Fisher singled to left field and moved to second on the throw to put two in scoring position. Kate Newberry reached on a fielder's choice, which drove in White.
After Newberry swiped second, Fisher scored on a passed ball. Two batters later, Turner knocked in Newberry for a 5-0 advantage. The Sand Sharks managed to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth, tying the contest.
However, Poole's squad regained the lead in the seventh when Shaver crushed a solo blast for the 6-5 score. For the game, Turner and White recorded two hits. Rouillard recorded a double while Shaver belted a home run.
Shaver scored twice in the win. In the circle, Payton Baker got the start and tossed 5.2 innings.
Ally Fleming worked the next two-thirds of an inning without surrendering a run to pick up the win. Lakyn Phillips entered and struck out two batters to pick up her school-record sixth save, surpassing a tie with former All-American standout India Kornegay (2011-14). Game two saw Poole's team take a 1-0 lead.
Autumn Fisher reached on an error and took third on a double by Newberry. Shaver lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, plating Fisher. The score remained 1-0 until the fourth.
With one down, Phillips singled to center field and trotted to second on a walk to Alexis Stout. Madison Rogers entered as a pinch runner. Phillips and Rogers moved up on a groundout.
When White reached on an error, Phillips and Rogers each crossed home plate for a three-run margin. Rouillard reached on an error, putting two on. A base hit by Fisher loaded the bags for Newberry, who promptly drew a walk.
Both White and Rouillard scored on the play for a 5-0 lead. Up 5-1 in the sixth, Rouillard and Fisher reached on errors before Newberry was hit by a pitch to load the bags. Shaver drove in a run and an error plated another when she reached on a fielder's choice.
Turner followed it up with a double to left field, knocking in Newberry. Stout continued the offensive onslaught, ripping a single that drove in Kaliyah Hensic, who entered as a pinch runner for Shaver. Johnson's sacrifice fly scored Turner for the 10-1 advantage.
For the game, Stout and Turner led the way with two hits apiece. Shaver drove in two while Fisher and Rouillard crossed home plate twice apiece. In the circle, Phillips went the distance and had seven strikeouts in the win.

14 North Georgia Saturday afternoon. The Pacers are now 18-27 on the season, including 8-16 in PBC play. Head coach Michael Holder's team jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a run in each of the first two frames.
Josh Sharp opened the game with a double to left field and took third on a fly ball. Sharp raced home when Hunter Thompson grounded out for a 1-0 advantage. Brody Yeomans led off the second with a base knock to right field and took second when Kaden Usry drew a walk.
Jack Hobson's single put runners on first and third. Yeomans crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Casciato for the two-run margin. The Nighthawks held a 5-2 advantage, but Holder's squad cut into the deficit in the eighth.
With one away, Thompson singled up the middle. Trevor Gruszka entered as a pinch runner and took second on Donovan Glisson's base knock. A fielder's choice by Griffin Rowe put runners on first and third.
Hobson's single to right center field plated Gruszka and Rowe to make it 5-4. Eliud Poventud started the ninth with a base hit to left field. Sharp laid down a bunt for a base hit to put two runners on.
Molinaroli was hit by a pitch, loading the bags. Glisson reached on a fielder's choice that plated Poventud and Sharp for a 6-5 advantage. UNG tied it in the bottom of the ninth and managed to score the winning run with two outs in the 11th.
For the game, Poventud led the squad with four hits. Sharp notched three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Hobson and Yeomans posted two hits apiece.
Glisson and Hobson drove in two apiece. On the mound, Cade Bouknight got the start and worked four frames. He struck out four.
Cole Evilsizor tossed 2.2 frames while Damien Ashley worked 1.2 innings and registered a strikeout.
Charles Herring, Jr., threw 2.1 innings and had a strikeout.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they host Newberry at 6 p.m..
