The Green Bay Packers are hosting Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton on an official pre-draft visit in Green Bay on Monday, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Teams are allowed to host up to 30 players on pre-draft visits. He was productive.
Felton (6-1, 183) caught 48 passes for 723 yards and six touchdowns in 2023 and then blew up in 2024, producing 96 catches for 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns. He led Maryland in touchdown catches and was an All-Big Ten pick both seasons. His 96 catches in 2024 set the new school record.
He is fast and athletic. Felton ran the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds, the sixth fastest time among receivers at the NFL Scouting Combine.
He also hit 39.5" in the vertical leap and covered 10-10 in the broad jump, scoring a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.61 out of 10.
0.Felton was a Senior Bowl participant, checking another box for the Packers. While he weighed only 183 pounds at the combine, he was up to 188 pounds at Maryland's pro day.
His arm length and wingspan are shorter than the Packers generally like, and Felton -- who also has small hands -- dropped eight passes in 2024.At 6-1 with sub 4.4 speed, the Packers could see Felton as the type of deep threat required in Matt LaFleur's offense, and his receiving production -- especially in 2024 -- suggests he could be a versatile all-around weapon, especially on manufactured touches and in the red zone.
According to PFF, Felton forced 26 missed tackles in 2024.Dane Brugler of The Athletic ranks Felton as the 19th best receiver in the draft class and a likely early Day 3 pick.Packers Wire is tracking all of the team's reported pre-draft visits here.
