L N Mallick Shehla Khalid Khan, a well-known Qatar-based Pakistani artist and a prominent figure in the Qatari art community, has carved a niche for herself as a multidisciplinary artist within a short span of time. Shehla is a self-taught artist with a diverse portfolio that includes Arabic calligraphy, modern Islamic art, mixed media, realism, sculpture, and large-scale art installations. As an active member of the art community, Shehla has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally, participating in major exhibitions at Katara, Doha Fire Station, Qatar Foundation, and other prestigious platforms.

Shehla recently won first place in the prestigious Neshan Recycling Competition 2025, organised by Qatar Shooting and Archery Association. The contest featured participation from many talented artists, making it highly competitive and challenging. Shehla’s winning artwork, titled ‘From Destruction to Peace,’ was crafted entirely from shotgun shells, with every detail meticulously designed using the shells to symbolise transformation and strength.
The award-winning piece reflects the journey from conflict and destruction to peace and resilience, highlighting the power of art to inspire change. “The concept behind the artwork was to transform objects associated with conflict into a symbol of peace, conveying a powerful message about overcoming adversity,” remarked Shehla. Her innovative approach and attention to detail earned her top recognition and praise for her artistic excellence.
Creating a masterpiece from such unconventional materials within a limited time frame tested her creativity and technical skill. Shehla expressed deep respect and admiration for her fellow competitors, acknowledging the incredible talent and effort displayed by all the participating artists. “For me, all the artists are winners.
To step up and take on a challenge like this requires courage and creativity, and everyone gave their best. Coming out for a competition and pushing your creative boundaries is already a big achievement,” she said.
