In the fifth season, Joe returned to New York City, where his twisted journey began. Actor Penn Badgley is back on the screens one last time as the psychotic killer Joe Goldberg in the fifth and final instalment of Netflix ’s thriller, You. After travelling to many countries and numerous deaths later, Joe returned to New York City, where his twisted journey began.

Now, he has a new wife, Kate Lockwood, played by Charlotte Ritchie, a rich and powerful businesswoman with whom he is raising his son Henry. The hit psychological thriller has officially wrapped up with its fifth and final season being released on the streaming giant on Thursday, April 24. As it came to an end, fans have just one question– What happens to Joe Goldberg? Does he finally pays the price of his crimes or escapes yet again? In season 5 of You, Joe is seen embracing his new life in the spotlight.

He attends high-society events, appears in magazines, and lives what appears to be the perfect life. But beneath it all, he is restless. Despite having a wife, he spirals into his old habit and begins an affair with a woman named Bronte, played by Madeline Brewer, who is a perfect match for him.

Halfway through the season, a major twist changes the course of Joe’s life. Bronte is not who she pretends to be. She is Louise and is on a mission.

She had close ties with Joe’s first victim from season 1, Beck (Elizabeth Lail). Louise was distraught after Beck’s death, and she spent years trying to prove that Joe was the killer. Thus, she, along with other like-minded internet sleuths, hatch up a plan against him.

Their plan works, and Joe is caught on camera committing a murder, and the footage is then streamed on the internet for the people to see the psychotic killer. His polished public image shattered when the New York Post shared an article with the headline: “Joe Goldmurderer." Amid all this, Louise also falls for Joe and begins to doubt his guilt.

Despite her growing feelings, she knew what she had to do. She agreed to run away with Joe to start a new life, but was determined to expose him as the murderer. After they take refuge at a secluded place, Louis confronts him about Beck’s murder at gunpoint.

Soon, a violent scuffle breaks out between the two, which ends with both of them being injured, and police finally put the psychotic killer behind bars. You Season 5 ended with Joe in prison, his head shaved and dressed in a prison uniform, still refusing to take responsibility for his actions and reading letters sent by his “fans". As he read one particular letter, Joe asked, “Why am I in a cage when these crazies write me all the depraved things they want me to do to them? Maybe we have a problem as a society.

" After the song Creep played in the background, he said, “Maybe the problem isn’t me...

maybe it’s you.".
