PHOENIX — The Phoenix Mercury are making it easier than ever for fans to watch the action, announcing their local broadcast schedule for the upcoming season featuring a franchise-record of 36 regular season games, along with their two preseason matchups. The games will air on Arizona’s Family and stream on Mercury Live, the team’s dedicated digital platform. There will also be an additional eight games that will air exclusively on national broadcasts through ABC (1) and ION (7).
The Mercury’s local broadcast schedule tips off with their home opener, Saturday, May 17, when they host the Seattle Storm at 7 p.m. for the Fry’s Food and Stores Home Opener.
Both preseason matchups for fans to tune into will be on Tuesday, May 6 at the Las Vegas Aces and Sunday, May 11 vs. the Golden State Valkyries. Ann Schatz, Emmy-winning play-by-play announcer, will lead the game coverage alongside basketball Hall of Fame Ann Meyers Drysdale.
The broadcast expansion — with their nationally televised games and now having the most locally broadcasted games in history — has to do with the growing attention to the WNBA and the growth of women’s sports. Now Mercury fans have more access to see their stars play as they enter a season showing great promise. Full broadcast details are on their website.
