Qatar tribune Darlene Regis The Philippine Professional Organizations-Qatar (PPO-Q) played a vital role in the 8th Career Simulation and Seminar Workshop (CSSW) organised by Philippine School Doha (PSD). This initiative aimed to inspire and equip young, aspiring professionals with the essential skills and knowledge required to thrive in today’s competitive global market. Under the theme ‘Young Professionals: Catalysts in a Multi-Generational Global Workforce’, the event officially commenced with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 17, 2025.

This milestone marked the beginning of a transformative learning experience aimed at bridging academic theory with real-world industry practice. Spanning six consecutive Fridays, from January 24 to February 28, a series of lectures and interactive activities were conducted under the leadership of Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Doha’s Chairman for Community Affairs, Hashim Tating, CPA. Through this initiative, students were given a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in real-life scenarios within the accountancy profession, gaining first-hand exposure to industry practices and expectations.

Additionally, students took part in a forum-style session that provided an open platform to ask questions on career planning and university preparedness. Esteemed guest speakers Ayesha Mutia Serdeña, Atty. Diane Garduce, and Greg Loayo, shared valuable insights, helping students navigate their future career paths with confidence.

The final day of the CSSW, held on February 28, featured two major highlights, with the Mr. & Ms. Business Icon 2025 segment taking center stage.

This segment encouraged students to demonstrate their professionalism by wearing business attire, confidently presenting themselves on stage, and articulating their career aspirations and motivations for pursuing accountancy. Jameela Rose Ybanez was crowned Ms. Business Icon 2025, while Sebastian Bello earned the title of Mr.

Business Icon 2025. Another key highlight was the Accountancy Business Debate, which ignited insightful discussions on the topic: “Is Accountancy a Future-Proof Career, or Will Technology Like AI and Automation Replace Accountants?” This timely and thought-provoking discourse challenged students to critically analyze the evolving landscape of the profession. Outstanding participants were recognized for their performances, with Juan Victor Viloria named Best Speaker and Alaina Kate Seterra awarded Best Rebuttal.

“PICPA Qatar also gave us amazing opportunities to meet successful individuals in the business industry. This allowed us to gain meaningful insights, especially when it comes to future-planning and career preparedness. Their efforts have truly transformed us into more determined, committed, and confident individuals,” said Jameela Rose Ybanez, a Grade 12 ABM student.

On March 7, the event concluded with a celebration honoring the contributions of facilitators, moderators, lecturers, and CSSW students, all of whom were presented with certificates in recognition of their participation and dedication. Copy 27/04/2025 10.
