The Edo State Police Command has reportedly declared one Mr Jonathan Osas Erharuyi wanted after he failed to comply with bail conditions requiring him to report regularly to the police station. The development follows his earlier arrest in connection with charges relating to alleged homosexual conduct.Mr Erharuyi was initially apprehended and paraded alongside several other young men on 20 February 2025, following a police raid at Club Patricia in Benin City.

After his release on bail, he was instructed to report to the station every fortnight while awaiting trial. However, according to police sources, Erharuyi has since stopped reporting and remains unreachable, prompting concerns about his disappearance. The case, which has been formally charged to court, forms part of a broader campaign by law enforcement targeting acts the federal government continues to classify as offences under existing Nigerian legislation.

Authorities have reiterated their position that individuals found guilty under these laws will face the appropriate legal penalties. In contrast to Erharuyi’s disappearance, other individuals named in the same case have reportedly been re-arrested and are currently in police custody. The circumstances surrounding Erharuyi’s failure to report and his current location remain unclear.

Sources linked to the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO) of the Edo State Command have appealed to members of the public for assistance in locating Mr Erharuyi. The PPRO noted that any information provided would be “sincerely appreciated and appropriately acknowledged.”Police have reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing the case through lawful channels and ensuring that justice is delivered in accordance with established legal procedures.
