Police storm 'industrial scale' cannabis farm in Halstead with two men arrested

Two men have been arrested after officers acting on a call from the public uncovered an industrial-scale cannabis farm in Halstead. Braintree Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address in Colchester Road on Tuesday April 15, after a call reporting suspicious activity in the area. A cannabis grow totalling between 400 and 500 plants was uncovered inside the property.

Two men, one aged in his 20s and one aged in his 30s, were arrested on suspicion of production of a controlled drug. They remain in custody. Inspector Philip Jackson said: “Within moments of our arrival at the scene, officers surrounded the property and arrested two suspects.



Hundreds of cannabis plants were seized and will be destroyed. When produced on a large scale such as the operation uncovered today, it is often used to fund organised crime and brings with it a range of issues including exploitation and anti-social behaviour.
