The Progressive Youth’s For Makinde’s Presidency 2027, has described as childish the comments of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, about Governor Seyi Makinde prospect as a 2027 presidential candidate. The group was reacting to Fayose’s statement in a recent interview on Channels Television thus: “When I saw a flyer on social media about Seyi Makinde for president, I forwarded to him. He calls me that he is not running, that it’s the handiwork of some overzealous boys.
He said he won’t be used to run against a fellow Yoruba man. That’s the truth.” The national convener of the group, Prince Christopher Odianarewo, said while Fayose is entitled to his own opinion, the call for Makinde to contest the presidential election in 2027 was to replicate his bold and intelligent approach to problem-solving which he has displayed in Oyo.
He said they are deeply concerned by the worsening state of affairs in Nigeria under the APC-led federal government.
