Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha In collaboration with the Markhiya Gallery at the Fire Station, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) will present an event titled ‘An Ode to Women’s Creativity Around the World’ at Qatar National Library (QNL) as part of the Philharmonic at the Library initiative, on April 24 at 6:30 pm. The event serves as a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable contributions of women in the arts—both in Qatar and around the world. The evening will feature an inspiring panel of distinguished women artists who will share insights into their creative journeys, the challenges they’ve overcome, and empowering messages for women in society.
Complementing the discussions, female musicians from the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will perform chamber music composed by women from various regions and eras. Participating Artists Hind Al ObaidlicTypeface:> A contemporary artist and painter, Hind is renowned for her evocative depictions of the human body submerged in water—transformed by sunlight and waves. Her work explores the delicate tension between abstraction and realism, often fragmenting the human form to present it as both incomplete and imperfect.
With a lifelong interest in portraiture and a background in architecture from Oxford Brookes University, Hind’s art merges structural precision with emotional depth, blurring the lines between physical and abstract spaces. Lina AlaalicTypeface:> A leading Qatari artist, Lina Alaali reinterprets the cultural heritage of Qatar through a modern lens. Her mixed media works explore the roles and experiences of women in Qatari society, incorporating vibrant colours, motifs, and traditional elements.
She holds a BA in Artistic Education from Qatar University and has exhibited across the Gulf and internationally, including shows in China, Kuwait, Jordan, and the UAE. Alaali is also an active cultural advocate and board member of the Qatar Society of Fine Arts. Charlene KasdorfcTypeface:> Charlene is a visual literacy educator, artist, and illustrator who encourages creative confidence in both children and adults.
With an MA in Museum and Gallery Practice from UCL Qatar, she recently launched a participatory drawing initiative promoting spontaneous, instinctive character illustration. Fatima Tarig JawedcTypeface:> A Pakistani ceramic artist, Fatima transforms discarded automobile parts into striking ceramic sculptures resembling metal. Her work delves into themes of emotional growth and transformation, reflecting the inner journeys of individuals.
She earned her design degree from the National College of Arts, Pakistan. This unique concert celebrates the enduring power, diversity, and creativity of women in the arts—offering an evening of dialogue, music, and cultural enrichment. Copy 23/04/2025 10.
