Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha The College of Health Sciences at Qatar University (QU) honoured the academic achievements of its outstanding students during the Spring/Fall 2024 Dean’s List Ceremony, celebrating 268 students for their dedication and scholastic excellence. Among the honourees, 68 students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 106 students earned a place on the Dean’s List for both the Spring and Fall semesters, demonstrating consistent academic distinction.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Prof Hanan Abdul Rahim, dean of the College of Health Sciences; faculty members, staff, parents and distinguished guests. Prof Hanan Abdul Rahim cited several honours received by college students at national and international events, including recognition at academic conferences in Qatar and the UAE, the Model Global World Health Organization in Geneva, and the 3MT competition in Canada. A notable achievement was the Gold Medal Award for Fatma Mahanna Al-Sulaiti from the Department of Public Health, given by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the Education Excellence Award, University Student Category.
The dean also commended student associations for their contributions to campus life, leadership, and health awareness. Those included the CHS Student Association (CHSSA), the Student Representative Board (SRB-CHS), the Nutrition Society, the Qatar Rehabilitation Students Association (QRTSA), and the Public Health Student Association (PHSA). As a token of continued encouragement, the college announced the launch of two new student awards for undergraduate and graduate categories to further promote academic and personal excellence.
Finally, the event concluded with sincere thanks to parents, faculty, and staff, acknowledging their unwavering support for this major academic achievement. Prof Hanan remarked, “Our students embody the values of excellence, integrity and service that define the College of Health Sciences. Today, we honour not just their academic achievements, but the commitment they have made to serving their professions and their communities.
Their success is our pride, and it motivates us to continue expanding opportunities for their learning and development.” Dr Nada Al-Kubaisi, assistant dean of student affairs, College of Health Sciences, added, “At the College of Health Sciences, our students are at the heart of everything we do. This ceremony is a celebration not only of their academic excellence but also of their resilience, growth, and leadership.
We are incredibly proud to witness their journeys and remain committed to supporting their success—both in the classroom and beyond.” The ceremony included impactful speeches by several students who were listed on the Dean’s List. They expressed their happiness with this academic achievement and their gratitude for the support they received from the college and faculty members.
