Others needed treatment for fractures and cuts.Most attacks were verbal, while some failing candidates have driven off with examiners trapped inside the cars.The yearly toll — topped only by the 610 immediately after Covid lockdowns were lifted — was unearthed by online platform ClickMechanic.
Boss Andrew Jervis said: “A driving test is a high-pressure situation.“However, examiners should not be in fear of physical or verbal attacks.”Learner drivers are facing record test waiting times.
But the Driving and Vehicle Standards Authority insisted: “Whatever has happened, don’t take it out on our staff. “If you do, we’ll press for the strongest possible penalties.”.
