The film Aastha: In the Prison of Spring was directed by Basu Bhattacharya and has a run time of 3 hours 30 minutes.
Along with Rekha and Om Puri, the film featured Dinesh Thakur, Navin Nischol, Daisy Irani and others. The story revolves around Mansi and her husband Amar who live a happy life with limited expenses. However, one day Mansi meets an unknown woman named Reena who offers to help her to buy her daughter’s shoes.
She came into the couple’s life with different agenda. In this film, Rekha was paired with Bollywood veteran actor Om Puri who is about 4 years older than the actress. Rekha gave an intense sensual and intimate scene with Om Puri and reportedly she lost control while performing the scenes.
According to reports, during the bold intimate shot, Rekha got so invested in the scene that she went out of control and lost her temper. Reportedly, the actress forgot that the intense scene is not real and while performing it the chair also broke. Actually, the romantic shoot was performed on a wooden chair.
At that time the chair could not handle the weight of both the actors, hence it broke. In the film, Om Puri played the role of Rekha's husband in the film. Apart from her husband Om Puri, the actress gave intimate scenes with Naveen Nischal in the film.
