“You can take the woman out of the Waffle House, but you can’t take Waffle House out of the woman.” South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace was in North Augusta on Tuesday, April 22, and gave about 50 people her comments on everything from Trump (unequivocally positive) to transgender politics (equally unequivocal, if the opposite way). Not known for taking a back seat, Mace was forceful from start to finish, and her comments spanned a deep frustration with South Carolina’s justice system, which she said was “a pay to play” system; to her intention to end the “shell game” behind DEI.
South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace was in North Augusta April 22. Mace’s North Augusta visit was a tame appearance, not like her recent confrontation at USC in Columbia. No potted plants thrown.
No need to bring out the Waffle House training. No expletives (though she fully owned her recent use of them). Mace was in relatively safe waters among the 50 or so at Lookaway Hall’s Camellia Center.
The North Augusta Republican Party, in conjunction with the Steel Magnolias Republican Women and the Aiken Republican Club, hosted Tuesday night’s event. Mace was here to “address the concerns of people in the state, to talk about her experiences in Washington and to talk about her vision of the future for the state of South Carolina,” said David Brannon, chair of the North Augusta Republican Party. Brannon said the event wasn’t limited to Republicans and that a few outside the party did make it.
South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace was in North Augusta April 22. While in North Augusta, Mace gave voice to promote not just President Donald Trump but also his senior advisor, Elon Musk, and the actions the federal government has taken in widespread spending cuts, later in the evening saying this national agenda should be replicated in South Carolina. “Earmarks.
$700 million a year. That’s easy,” Mace said in response to a question asking what her first order of business would be should she become governor. A hiring freeze would also be in the mix.
Extend that further, and “I would model everything that President Trump is doing with federal workers, and I would model it at the state level on down.” That includes ending DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion): “We now have these positions that used to be DEI and now because they can’t do it anymore, they’re keeping the same people but giving them a different title. It is no different, it’s just a shell game.
And the question is, will the state have the backbone or the spine to push back?” “And I don’t believe they will unless we have someone who’s willing to be strong, who’s willing to be bold and who’s willing to speak out and shame them into doing the right thing every single day,” she said..
