Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Beda University will cross paths anew to kick things off in the second round of NCAA Season 100 volleyball tournaments on Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. The Knights (6-3) and the Red Spikers (5-4) will open the quadruple-header at 8 a.m.
with the former eyeing to take the solo third in the men's tournament, while the latter are hoping to barge into the Final Four picture. Their female counterparts will then slug it out at 11 a.m.
with the Lady Knights looking to break a four-way tie at the top spot as they currently tangled with Benilde, Perpetual, and Mapua at 6-3. The Lady Red Spikers, on the other hand, are hoping to break through after ending the first round winless at 0-9. Letran got the better of San Beda both in the women's and men's divisions in their previous meetings with the Lady Knights gutting out a 22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-16 win last March 27 while the Knights pulled off a 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19 victory.
In the afternoon games, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde will take on the embattled squads from Jose Rizal University. The Lady Blazers are gunning to regain full control of the tournament after absorbing heartbreaking losses to Letran and Mapua in the first round, which saw them ending a stunning 43-game winning streak. The Blazers, meanwhile, were close to sweeping the opening round but absorbed a four-set defeat at the hands of Mapua University, who thus completed a rare first-round sweep.
