RSPCA puts out plea after bucket of dead puppies found buried at allotment site and dogs' bodies found dumped in separate counties days apart By JOSE RAMOS Published: 19:54 EDT, 29 April 2025 | Updated: 19:57 EDT, 29 April 2025 e-mail View comments The RSPCA has launched an appeal after seven puppies were found in a bucket buried days after two dogs were found dead. The seven dead puppies were found at the allotment site after they were dug up by a wild animal at the Grovebury Walk allotments, in Beaumont Leys, Leicester. Members of the public found the animals, which are believed to have been newborn and immediately alerted authorities.

RSPCA inspector Beckie Harlock is appealing for anyone with information about the incident to call the charity's appeal line. She said she was also keen to check on the well-being of the puppies' mother. Ms Harlock said: 'This was an incredibly distressing discovery for the member of the public who found these poor dead puppies.

'There are no injuries to the puppies or an obvious cause of death, but the circumstances in which they were found is suspicious. We're urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious to please get in touch with us as we're keen to find out what happened to these young dogs. 'We are also concerned for the well-being of the mother of these pups, too and are keen to find her.

' Members of the public found the animals, which are believed to have been newborn and immediately alerted authorities The discovery was made last Thursday, just days after a dachshund and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel were found dumped in a black country lay-by. The two animals were found dead by a member of the public on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, off the A460 Cannock Road, on Wednesday, April 16. They were taken to the vet and were believed to have been dumped for about a week before being found, Birmingham Live reports.

There is no reason to believe the two cases are linked. One of the dogs was found on the grass while the other was in a bag hung up on a a barbed wire fence. The RSPCA is now appealing for anyone with information RSPCA animal rescue officer Katey Freckelton said: 'It's incredibly sad that these dogs were dumped in this way and suspicious that their remains have been found in the location.

'The dogs both had microchips but the information wasn't up to date. 'They were discovered on April 16 and taken straight to a vet, although the person who found them thinks they may have been there for around a week before they were found.
