Vanessa Sarie and Nicen Colendra fueled a wild second set resurgence of Colegio de San Juan de Letran as they completed a 25-21, 25-20, 25-18 win against Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball on Tuesday. The rookie tandem shone to help the Lady Knights erase a seven-point deficit in the second frame to take the solo top spot at 10-2 behind a four-game winning streak while the Generals fell to 3-9. Sarie finished with nine points while Colendra chipped in eight of her own as the young guns supplied support to Gia Maquilang, who led the way with 14 points and 10 digs.

"Nag-start talaga sa ensayo namin 'to. Dapat 'yung level ng paglalaro ay pataas as a team at bawat isa. Dapat walang titigil hanggang makuha 'yun goal," Gia Maquilang told GMA News Online.

"Hindi ito para i-prove na magaling kami. Gusto lang ni coach na na-i-improve kami every game." [It all started in our practices.

Our level of play has to go up as a team and as individuals. We should not stop until we reach our goal..

. This is not to prove that we're good. Coach just wants that we improve every game.

] The Lady Knights were at one point down by seven in the second set as the Lady Generals threatened to level the game, but Letran mounted a huge fightback to flip the script. Letran, eager to make the finals again following a surprise championship return last year, erased a 16-20 deficit with Colendra and Sarie fueling an epic 9-0 run to close out the set. Colendra then nailed back-to-back attacks to instigate their 4-1 start in the third frame before a flurry of errors from the Lady Generals made the win easier for the Lady Knights.

With the win, Letran now sits atop the team standings with defending champion De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde not too far behind at 9-2. —JMB, GMA Integrated News.
