Do you know why people love Bucky Barnes? It has nothing to do with him being handsome, Bucky’s charm and charisma are just the cherry on top of his magnificent personality. He is arguably one of the best-written characters in the entire MCU, even though he has less than an hour of screen time when you put all his parts together. He is a damaged, sad, and fractured thing, but he is slowly becoming not the man he was, but the man he wants to be in this new, strange world.

Just like Bucky, who suffered immeasurably, Sebastian Stan, the actor who plays the MCU character, was also struggling before he landed the role. He wasn’t doing well financially and was surviving merely on the royalties from his appearance in 2010’s Hot Tub Time Machine. Bagging Bucky Barnes' character changed his life.

“I was actually struggling with work. I had just gotten off the phone with my business manager, who told me I was saved by $65,000 that came in residuals from Hot Tub Time Machine,” he told Vanity Fair. Sebastian Stan has played Bucky aka the Winter Soldier in multiple MCU projects including, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Ant-Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) and Captain America: Brave New World (2025).
