Second Muscatine woman charged in connection to gun theft

A Muscatine woman is in the Muscatine County Jail under a $30,000 bond and is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, third-degree burglary and trafficking in stolen weapons.

A Muscatine woman is in the Muscatine County Jail under a $30,000 bond and is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, third-degree burglary and trafficking in stolen weapons. According to court records, attorneys for Arianna Lanae Cardona, 21, have filed a motion to have bond reduced. A bond hearing will be held May 1.

An arraignment is scheduled for May 2. Trafficking stolen weapons, third-degree burglary and control of a firearm by a felon are all Class D felonies that can bring up to five years in prison. Arrest reports say that two firearms were reported stolen.



Carly Renae Reyna, 19, of Muscatine, faces identical charges . She was arrested last week. Reports allege the two women had gone to a Muscatine residence at about 2:30 p.

m. April 3 and stolen two handguns, a .45 caliber Sig Sauer and a 9mm Beretta, from the residence.

Reyna also had control over the firearms as they were kept at her residence. Reports also claim the two transferred the stolen firearms to another person, identified as Gavin Xavier Jeffries. Reyna and Jeffries are listed as co-defendants on the amended trial information.

Reyna is in the Muscatine County Jail under a $25,000 bond on charges of third-degree burglary, trafficking in stolen weapons, and two counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Court documents show no record of Jeffries' arrest. On April 11, a search warrant was issued for Cardona’s residence.

Three firearms were located there, including the two that were stolen. The report also said that Cardona admitted to knowing the firearms were in her residence. She is a previously convicted felon.
