Over the past six weeks, volunteers from Blue Mountains East Unit, NSW SES Blue Mountains West Unit, and have been hard at work completing their vertical rescue course - culminating in a number of members passing their assessment over the April 12-13 weekend. or signup to continue reading Training took place at some iconic locations across the Blue Mountains, including: Mitchells Ridge, Mt Victoria Portal Lookout, Glenbrook Yellow Rock Lookout While Blue Mountains East and West Units aren't designated as the Vertical Rescue (VR) agency for our area, members are trained and assessed to the same high standard. They also continue to maintain currency through regular skills-based VR training, ensuring they are always ready to assist agencies like NSW Police Rescue during land search and vertical rescue operations.
