Sony has brought back every classic PlayStation home screen to PS5, giving players a delightful dose of nostalgia. On December 2 , 2024, Sony released a PS5 update that allowed players to choose home screens based on PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4’s classic themes. Despite being incredibly popular amongst fans, the update was only available for a limited time as part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary.
This was quickly met with disappointment from the community, with many wanting them to be a permanent feature. Well, a new update that went live on April 24 has finally brought back these eagerly requested retro themes. PlayStation classic home screens return to PS5 As mentioned on the PlayStation Blog , Sony revealed that the classic home screens will finally make a return starting on April 24.
“During our 30th anniversary celebrations, we surprised our fans with a limited-time selection of nostalgic customization features for the PS5 System UI to honor the four PlayStation consoles that paved the way for PS5,” wrote Sony. “Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from our community, we’re happy to bring back the look and feel of the four console designs for players to customize the home screen on PS5.” How to get classic console designs on PS5 While there’s no indication on whether the classic PlayStation themes will be permanent this time around, you can change your PS5 homescreen by following the steps below: Boot up your PS5 console.
Download the latest update. Head over to the Settings menu. Scroll down to Appearance .
Select Appearance and Sound . Choose which classic PlayStation design you wish to use. Once you’ve done the above, your PS5 homescreen and start-up sounds will feature your chosen PlayStation console theme.
