A 16-year-old boy identified as Mustapha was tragically killed by a stray bullet on Monday in the Oyingbo area of Ebute Metta, Lagos State, following a suspected cult clash. The incident occurred shortly after a peace walk organized by local youths aimed at promoting unity and discouraging cult-related violence. Witnesses said the rally had just concluded when a disagreement erupted among some participants.

According to a resident who requested anonymity, the situation escalated when a suspected cult member pulled out a firearm and began shooting randomly. Mustapha, who was not part of any cult group, was struck by a stray bullet. “Mustapha only came out to support the walk.

He wasn’t involved with any gang. He was a quiet, respectful boy,” a source told PUNCH Metro. “He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away before he could receive treatment.

” The shooting caused panic among residents and brought the event to a sudden halt. One of the organisers of the walk was also shot and is currently in critical condition, according to reports. Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages had not been returned at the time of reporting.

This tragedy follows a recent incident in the Idimu area of Lagos, where the bodies of two men — one reportedly beheaded — were discovered on Sunday morning in what police suspect was a cult-related killing. The victims were found along Oladun Road, drawing crowds of shocked residents and passersby..
