Suzanne Crowe: Why it’s so important to let children play, explore and face risks

The Food Safety Authority recently issued a warning about “slushies”. As any parent of a young child will tell you, these 500ml cups of blue, red and cola-coloured drinks, often purchased in petrol stations, are the bane of our lives. The additive glycerol is a gut stimulant among other things, so the sticky drinks can end up decorating the inside of your car with lurid vomit as you make your way down the road.

Not fun, and possibly dangerous..
