MOTORISTS are urged to prioritise breaks from driving so they remain alert on the road. The reminder from the Land Transport Authority comes as the country prepares for the long Easter weekend and as the LTA launches the Stop, Revive, Survive (SRS) campaign today.LTA chief executive Irimaia Rokosawa said the campaign aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of driver fatigue which has been cited as a leading cause of road accidents and fatalities.

“Fatigue is a silent but deadly threat on our roads,” he said.“Through the ‘Stop, Revive, Survive’ campaign, we aim to educate drivers about the dangers of driving while tired and provide them with resources to help them travel safely.”Mr Rokosawa said dedicated roadside rest areas would be established around the country, offering safe and convenient locations for drivers to pause and recharge before continuing their journeys.

The first activity will take place from 10am to 12pm at Wainadoi today and on Thursday at Pacific Harbour during the same hours.Held in partnership with Nestle, the campaign also seeks to encourage drivers to adopt safe driving habits. The post ‘Take a break, stay awake’ appeared first on The Fiji Times.
