The Block's Jess Eva and Norm Hogan announce shock split: 'Still family'

TV personalities Jess Eva and Norm Hogan have surprised their followers with the announcement that they are no longer together. The popular couple, who competed on The Block in 2018, revealed to New Idea this week that they quietly split up three years ago but have remained close friends. “We still love one another, we’re still the best of friends, and we are still family,” Jess told the publication.

“There’s no drama, but we both thought it was a bit ‘up ourselves’ to publicly announce we’d separated at the time.” Jess and Norm met outside a nightclub 14 years ago and became engaged in 2014, although the I’m A Celebrity star openly said she had “no intention of getting married”. They share two children: Freddie, 11, and Matilda, eight.

Jess shared that she and Norm were “fighting a lot” in the year leading up to their split, but there was no one reason for ending their romantic relationship. “It was really just an accumulation of small things and pressures,” she detailed. “One day, we were both sitting in our backyard, having a beer in front of the fire pit, and I just said, ‘Norm, I love you, but we can’t keep going like this.

’ He said, ‘I love you too – and I agree’.” The pair still currently live together in their home in Sydney, but have separate bedrooms. Norm added: “The only thing that has changed about how we feel about each other is our relationship status.

” Working together post-split Jess and Norm recently returned to screens with their own Channel Nine renovation show, Budget Battlers , which saw the couple help deserving families by renovating each of their homes in just five days on a $10,000 budget. Jess told Yahoo Lifestyle while promoting the show that it was “fantastic” working with Norm, even though they were no longer romantically involved. “We spend more time together now than we ever have,” she shared.

“It's marvellous, he’s my best mate. Even if we've only got one caravan available on set, we camp up in the same van. “We just get along way better than we ever have before, because we're just left with raw friendship.

” SHOP: Despite ending their romantic relationship three years ago, Jess and Norm have continued to appear on each other’s social media. She shared a sweet post in September 2023 celebrating Norm on Father’s Day, and posted a video in November last year setting up for Christmas together. She also confirmed on Instagram last month that they will be working together again on the second season of Budget Battlers , which is expected to air on Channel Nine later this year.
