The Mammoth Lakes Police revealed that the controlled substance found in possession of actor Haley Joel Osment has been sent for testing and that they are awaiting the results.

The Mammoth Lakes Police revealed that the controlled substance found in possession of actor Haley Joel Osment has been sent for testing and that they are awaiting the results. Haley Joel Osment, best known for his role in the 1999 film The Sixth Sense, was arrested on April 8. According to reports, the actor has been booked for alleged public intoxication and “unruly conduct".

The police also revealed that Haley was in possession of an unidentified controlled substance, presumed to be cocaine. The 37-year-old was taken into custody at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, California, after the authorities were alerted to Haley’s improper behaviour. On April 16, the Mammoth Lakes Police told People magazine that the controlled substance has been sent for testing and that they are awaiting the results.



Sergeant Jason Heilman said, “He (Haley Joel Osment) was booked and is no longer in custody. Public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance are the charges related to the arrest." According to People, Haley Joel Osment was released shortly after the arrest.

The Mono County District Attorney’s Office has yet to announce whether the formal charges will be filed against the actor. Further investigation is currently underway. This is not the first time that Haley Joel Osment got embroiled in legal turmoil.

Back in 2018, the actor had a public verbal scuffle at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday, leading to his arrest. Earlier in 2006, Haley Joel Osment was charged with drunk driving after being injured in a car accident. He was booked with DUI and possession of marijuana.

Haley was sentenced to three years of probation by a judge after the incident. Haley Joel Osment rose to fame after starring as a child actor in The Sixth Sense. The horror-mystery, helmed by acclaimed director M Night Shyamalan, also featured Bruce Willis, Toni Collette, Olivia Williams, Trevor Morgan and Donnie Wahlberg in key roles.

In 2024, Haley Joel Osment appeared in Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink Twice. Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie, Christian Slater, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, and Liz Caribel Sierra were part of the thriller. At present, Haley Joel Osment has reportedly been roped in for an undisclosed role in the second season of Netflix’s popular series Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Ortega.
