IN Malaysia, families dream of creating fun and memorable experiences together during weekends and holidays by visiting theme parks or exploring educational attractions. But for most, such outings remain just dreams due to the high costs involved when visiting these entertainment centres. The high costs can be attributed to the Entertainments Duty Act 1953, a law meant for a different era but still in effect today.

It imposes high taxes on admissions to theme parks and blocks private investment in an industry that could help boost the economy..
