Two Bahamian firms have joined forces in the Barbados market, with services that complement each other to bring solutions to their clients. Duran Humes, chief executive officer of Plato Alpha, told Guardian Business yesterday that Plato is has partnered with PDC Corporate Services Limited for the latter to provide outsourced payroll services to KFC Barbados, in an effort for PDC to complement Plato Alpha’s already launched TriBlock HR software in the company. Humes said: “We decided to partner with PDC after our introduction into Barbados, to assist KFC Barbados with payroll needs.

So PDC is going to be providing the service of outsourced payroll to KFC Barbados, and we are pretty much bringing PDC along with us. Two Bahamian companies are expanding outside of the country.” Plato Alpha launched its TriBlock HR software with KFC Barbados in early April, which is the company’s first international client.

Peter Cartwright, managing director of PDC Corporate Services Limited, said: “In many cases a lot of companies don’t have the resources or the bandwidth to take on special projects, and sometimes it may be payroll or accounting. So essentially what KFC Barbados is doing is sort of outsourcing that particular function to firms with the expertise and the resources to pretty much fill in the gap and provide that service.” PDC will operate as the payroll accountant for KFC Barbados, working in tandem with Plato Alpha’s TriBlock HR software.

The companies will synergize their efforts to provide a seamless service. Cartwright, providing a personal testimony for TriBlock, noted: “We’ve been using TriBlock for a year now ourselves, and it’s a seamless process. Since we started our company, we were pretty much on a manual system of Excel spreadsheets, to make our calculations and calculate the payroll and to manage vacation, and it became very cumbersome.

“So when we heard about TriBlock, we reached out to Duran and his team, and we got on board with the system, and since then it’s been seamless, we’ve been able to cut down a lot of man-hours. It’s not just about payroll, it’s a pretty robust system.” Humes added: “Through Peter’s service offering, he utilizes TriBlock for his clients.

That in and of itself allows us to then further adapt TriBlock to any particular market and wherever Peter is, and his company is, and it also allows us to now, essentially, get more persons on the platform, which is the primary goal of ours. That’s a big part of the partnership we’re striking with Peter, and this is the first of this particular venture, and there are many more.” Plato Alpha has a target of 10,000 users for TriBlock across the region before the end of the year.

Utilizing partnerships with other Bahamian firms like PDC allows Plato to get to that target much more quickly. “If you want to go fast, you go alone, but if you want to go far, you go together,” Cartwright noted. PDC’s services are expected to be fully integrated into the KFC Barbados workflow by the end of May.
