The police recovered arms, liquor, cars and items worth over Rs 33 lakh In a dramatic turn of events, police in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, have apprehended five members of Haryana’s notorious Mewat gang as they were planning a robbery. The suspects were caught near a petrol pump, thanks to a meticulously planned operation by the police.
Additional SP Mayur Khandelwal disclosed that the police had received a tip-off about the suspects preparing for a heist near Runija. Acting swiftly, Police Station In-Charge Satyendra Chaudhary and his team laid a siege and successfully arrested the five individuals. The arrested individuals have been identified as Nasir Khan, Rafiq Khan, Anish Khan, and Aashiq Mewati from Alwar, Rajasthan, and Zahid Fakir from Ujjain.
Four of the accused are known members of the infamous Mewat gang. During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing pipes worth lakhs from the Narmada Jal Yojana. They also admitted to previous involvement in loot and robbery incidents.
Police recovered a 315 bore pistol, two cars, country-made liquor, a dagger, a grinder, a tommy gun, and other items exceeding Rs 33 lakh in value. In recognition of their swift and effective action, SP Pradeep Sharma announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the police team..
