Urvashi Rautela breaks silence on being left out of Daaku Maharaaj’s Netflix poster, says it was a mistake and Netflix apologised. Urvashi Rautela has finally addressed the controversy around her absence from the Netflix poster of Daaku Maharaaj, which created a stir earlier this year. Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, the actor said the streaming platform had mistakenly omitted her image from the official promotional material and later apologised.

In February, Netflix announced the OTT release of Daaku Maharaaj on social media. The accompanying poster prominently featured lead star Nandamuri Balakrishna along with Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal and Shraddha Srinath, but Urvashi’s image was noticeably missing. This triggered speculation that her scenes had been cut from the OTT version of the film.

However, when the film premiered on the platform, all of her scenes from the theatrical version were intact. “No, actually, I’ll tell you what happened is about this entire thing. It was a mistake by Netflix that they put a poster without the image.

Afterwards, they also apologised to us, to our team, that it happened by mistake. But until then, the fans had seen the same thing, so they became aggressive, agitated. But after that, to compensate, they made two posts of ours.

After that, they put two of our posters with the image. So, it was not an unintentional (intentional) mistake by them," Urvashi said in the interview. To make up for the error, Netflix later released two additional character posters featuring Rautela’s image, attempting to pacify fans who were upset over the initial omission.

Daaku Maharaaj, directed by KS Ravindra (also known as Bobby Kolli), released in theatres on January 12, 2025. The action drama had a strong run at the box office, earning over Rs 156 crore worldwide. The OTT release brought it to a wider audience, but the initial promotional misstep sparked unnecessary controversy.

Urvashi was among the most active cast members during the film’s promotional campaign. However, her run-in with controversy wasn’t limited to the poster issue, she also drew flak for remarks she made about Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident, which were later deemed insensitive..
