Embracing the natural splendor of Utah Lake, the Utah Lake Authority, alongside Utah County and the State of Utah, has initiated the "Utah Lake is My Lake" promotional campaign. A fresh effort to revamp the image of a recreational gem too long thought dirty and undesirable, the new campaign pushes through with video ads and a digital push to highlight the lake's untapped appeal.Launching the campaign, Utah County Commissioner Skyler Beltran, spoke before an assembly at the Provo River Delta, having Utah Lake as the backdrop to the lake's revitalized reputation.
“Utah Lake is a major asset to our community, and we need to celebrate it,” Beltran said, as per Utah County. “People deserve to know that a lot of work has been done, and the work continues to make the lake a desirable destination. Let’s celebrate it!”The rejuvenation of Utah Lake is not merely a product of message rebranding but a testament to over a decade of environmental efforts.
These have led to a 70% reduction in phragmites land cover, and the June Suckerfish, once at the brink of extinction, reclassified from “endangered” to “threatened” status under the Endangered Species Act.Recreational activities are springing anew, with opportunities for fishing, boating, and birdwatching among others flourishing once again on the lake's waters. Significantly reduced that carp, a former nuisance, now requires more complex strategies to control, the Lake Authority is basking in the success of transforming Utah Lake into a scenic hotspot, ripe for the public to rediscover.
“Utah Lake is a beautiful natural resource right in our backyard now,” the Utah Lake Authority expressed, as obtained by Utah County. It now presents a vast array of outdoor activities, including paddleboarding, kayaking, scenic walking trails, and some hunting.In celebrating the lake's revitalization, the Lake Authority invites locals and visitors alike to witness the transformation firsthand.
