Vehari - A potentially deadly land dispute in Fato Chakkar, located in the jurisdiction of Luddan police station, has been peacefully resolved following a successful and strategic operation by Vehari Police. According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Vehari Mansor Aman, the entire area has been cleared and handed back to the Jutt community, bringing the tense situation under control. DPO Mansor Aman while talking to The Nation stated that the police, through sheer dedication and professional strategy, managed to maintain peace and prevent any major loss of life or property during the operation.
The conflict had escalated between members of the Jutt and Mai communities, reportedly over land ownership claims. Local sources alleged that armed men from the Mai community attempted to take over agricultural land and even attacked residential properties, harassed women, looted valuables, and stole livestock. The situation worsened when the Jutt community arrived with machinery to harvest wheat, and were allegedly attacked with heavy firearms by members of the Mai group.
Police officers who initially responded to the call for help also came under fire, resulting in injuries to several personnel, including a sub-inspector. Given the gravity of the situation, armored vehicles were deployed and military assistance was reportedly sought. At the time, residents accused a local MNA and her associates of backing the encroachers.
However, DPO Vehari Mansor Aman has now confirmed that the issue has been fully resolved, the area has been secured, and there is no longer any threat or unrest. He praised the efforts of the police team for conducting a highly effective and disciplined operation. Local residents and victims have also expressed relief and satisfaction with the role of law enforcement agencies and the restoration of peace in the area.
