Victim in St. Clair Shores I-94 shooting dies

One of the two victims hospitlized after a shooting on the Interstate 94 freeway in St. Clair Shores on Saturday has died, according to the Michigan State Police. The 19-year-old male is identified as Alvin Johnson, a former football player at Harper Woods High School who received a scholarship to play at Central Michigan University.

Johnson reportedly suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and the leg. Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said officers responded to reports of shots fired on I-94 near the 10 Mile Road exit at approximately 1 p.



m. on April 26. A statement from MSP said their preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a black Chevrolet Malibu and a silver vehicle were shooting at each other while driving on the freeway.

The driver of the Malibu rear ended a GMC Acadia and the driver of the silver vehicle continued driving east. When officers looked into the Chevrolet Malibu, which was on the side of the freeway, they discovered two men who had been shot inside the car. Johnson and an 18-year-old male were transported to Henry Ford St.

John Hospital by St. Clair Shores Fire Department personnel. MSP officers are continuing to investigate this incident, which closed down the eastbound lanes of the freeway for several hours on Saturday.

They have not determined a motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made. MSP are asking any witnesses to contact them at 855-MICHTIP or to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP. A GoFundMe has been organized by Fallon Moore and Ebony Johnson and as of 4 p.
