Everton could be set to see plenty of change over the summer, both on and off the pitch. The Toffees are set to make the move to Bramley-Moore Dock under their new ownership in the hope of creating a more sustainable future. David Moyes will have to be measured, but he will be looking towards the summer transfer window with the hope of making several additions to his team.
There are some big decisions to be made, one of which is over the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose contract expires at the end of the season. Everton are safe in the Premier League. This gives the boss a fairly good opportunity to have an overhaul and root out any of the squad members he doesn’t feel are up to his standards. There will have to be a level of retention, given that PSR constraints will be at the forefront of The Friedkin Group’s minds after what they came into at Goodison Park. Nevertheless, the boss hasn’t been shy about the fact that he is seeking a restructuring in his Everton squad and, according to the Daily Mail (28 April), Moyes is eager to bring the average age of the squad down.
The manager is also keen on focusing recruitment on players who are robust and can cope with the level of games and the pressing football he wants to play in the Premier League.Dan Friedkin can back Moyes in the summer. (Credit: Imago)Calvert-Lewin doesn’t match Moyes needsCalvert-Lewin did show an increase in form after Moyes returned to Merseyside earlier in the season, although, before long, the striker was injured and has been out since January.
The 28-year-old is ramping up his recovery from the sidelines and could be due to feature for the Toffees again in the near future, which does offer the opportunity to secure his place. However, when you ponder the factors that are important to Moyes in his quest to sign new players, Calvert-Lewin doesn’t really tick the boxes. The striker may have top-flight experience, but his injury record does not make for good reading, suggesting he has neither the youth nor fitness that Moyes is seeking. With his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, letting him go seems like a safer option and Moyes will be looking for attacking reinforcement elsewhere, with Liam Delap a target. The post View: Moyes surely has no plans for 28-y/o Everton player as transfer update drops appeared first on Goodison News.
