Wamiqa Gabbi's journey from a background dancer in Love Aaj Kal to starring in Chor Bazari Phir Se showcases her perseverance. How do you measure success? Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajkummar Rao are sharing screen space in Bhool Chuk Maaf. The film also features a reprised version of the Chor Bazari song, which originally starred Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in 2009 film, Love Aaj Kal. Wamiqa Gabbi had a blink-and-miss appearance in Thoda Thoda Pyar song, which featured Giselli Monteiro as Harleen Kaur. At exactly 1 minute 11 seconds, Wamiqa appears wearing a kurta, tehmat (dhoti), turban and a moustache for a few seconds before fading away from the scene. Cut to today: The actor is starring as the female lead alongside Rajkummar in Chor Bazari Phir Se, a reprised version of the same track in a film which featured her as a background dancer.
Watch the video here: For the unversed, Wamiqa also played a crisp role in Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Jab We Met as Geet and Roop’s cousin. Before making it big in Bollywood, she has also worked in films of Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages. Wamiqa’s breakthrough performance came in her portrayal of a courtesan-turned-actor in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee.
Next was her role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya, where she shared screen space alongside Ali Fazal as his wife. A particular clip of the actor dancing her heart out to Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani brought her into the limelight almost overnight. Next, she has has array of films in the pipeline.
