Netflix have released the first trailer for their upcoming documentary on the killing of Jason Corbett.Mr Corbett was killed by his then-wife, Molly Martens and her father, Tom Martens, in 2015.They were convicted of second-degree murder before their conviction was quashed, and instead of a re-trial, both Molly and Tom Martens pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, being released last year.
Pic: Netflix © 2025Netflix announced earlier this month that a documentary on the killing of Mr Corbett, A Deadly American Marriage, will be released this May, with the first trailer of the documentary being released to their YouTube channel on Thursday.The trailer shares clips of the interrogation of both of the Martens, as well as photos from the crime scene; alongside interview clips of Mr Corbett’s children Jack and Sarah, law enforcement officials, and the Martens’ themselves.One talking head in the documentary said that the scene of Mr Corbett’s death was ‘the bloodiest she’d ever seen,’ while a prosecutor said that in 30 years he’d never seen crime scene photographs ‘like these.
’Tom Martens also appears in the documentary, and appears to talk about his motivation for attacking his son-in-law, claiming that he was going to save his life, and has ‘no regrets’ for his role in Mr Corbett’s death.The documentary was reportedly initiated by the Corbett family after they felt ‘burnt’ by a US program in 2017, which they say they weren’t asked to contribute to prior to its release, just a week after the Martens were convicted of second-degree murder.‘The story kind of begins and ends with [Jack and Sarah],’ a source told Extra.
ie. ‘Apart from when they delivered victim impact statements in the court at the sentencing hearing in November 2023, Jack and Sarah haven’t had an opportunity to speak out about what really happened in the house.’The source added that the ‘tragedy’ of the case was that Mr Corbett’s children had been ‘used’ by the Martenses during the legal processes around the killing.

Jack and Sarah went to Netflix about film on their father’s killing ‘It’s an extraordinary human story from the point of view of those two kids,’ the source added.
