Sentry, created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee in 2000, is shown as a middle aged, introverted man who has no memory of his heroic past. Marvel Studios released new footage from Thunderbolts, offering a glimpse of intense action and the team’s battle against a new powerful threat, Robert “Bob" Reynolds, aka Sentry the Void. The trailer focuses on Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s team facing off with an Avenger-level danger, and they aren’t ready.

While Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman, will be the film’s main villain, it’s unclear if this character will return in future Marvel films. For those unfamiliar with comic books, Sentry’s backstory, his connection to The Void, along with his powers, may seem puzzling. Here’s everything you need to know about this powerful and complex character as the final phase 6 movie gears up to hit the big screen this week.

Sentry, created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee in 2000, is not your typical Marvel character. In the comics, he’s a middle aged, introverted man who has no memory of his heroic past. Over time, Bob discovers that he is Sentry, a hero with the incredible power of “one million exploding suns.

" However, there’s a major twist, as his greatest enemy is The Void, a dark and destructive force that happens to be his own split personality. To protect the world, Bob once erased all memories of his superhero identity from everyone’s mind, including his own. Now that his memory has returned, he can fly, has super strength and speed, telepathy, can shapeshift and fire powerful energy blasts.

Sentry’s powers reportedly come from a special version of the super soldier serum, known as the Golden Sentry Serum. This serum is even more powerful than the one used on Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. In the Thunderbolts trailer, we see Robert “Bob" Reynolds causing chaos.

Meanwhile, Earth’s new Avengers, including Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and US Agent, are thrown into a deadly mission by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. In Thunderbolts, several familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are making their return. Sebastian Stan is back as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova, David Harbour returns as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell plays US Agent and Hannah John-Kamen will be seen as Ghost.

Olga Kurylenko will return as Taskmaster. The team will be assembled by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is stepping into the role of the next Nick Fury for this new chapter of the MCU..
