Question: How did you get introduced to sports? Answer: “I got introduced to sports with my dad; he was active in three or four sports during his time in high school, and he introduced me to them really early and it's just been love for the game ever since.” Q: What appeals to you about baseball specifically? A: “I love it because it's an outside sport, nice warm weather and there's both strong senses of team and individual competitions.” Q: Who is your biggest role model and why? ADVERTISEMENT A: “I think my biggest role model would be my mom.
She's always been there for me for every game and she always encourages me to do my best no matter what the circumstances are.” Q: What would you say are the strongest parts of your game? A: “Definitely my approaches at the plate specifically, not getting myself into trouble swinging at bad pitches, and my overall hitting as a whole.” Q: What is your hitting strategy at the plate? A: “My strategy at the plate, I'm sitting fastball every pitch.
I pride myself in not getting beat by fastballs. And from there, usually early in the counts, I'm looking for stuff over the middle of the plate, maybe a little in and just focusing on not chasing bad pitches and helping myself out as best I can.” Q: What is your leadership role on this team? A: To me, leadership is just encouraging these guys, especially through hard times and setting the example through energy and effort.
Regardless of what's going on in the field, always being a guy they can look to and see how to do the little things right.” ADVERTISEMENT Q: What’s the best piece of advice you could give? A: “The best piece of advice I could give is work your butt off day in and day out. The results are immeasurable.
I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't work as hard as I did and that's probably my biggest advice.” Q: What led to your decision to attend DSU? A: “When I visited Dakota State, I was at that point in between a few schools and the head coach at Dakota State, Derrion Hardie, he showed me a presentation that really laid out their player development and just the increasing success in their program, and one of my biggest goals is to continue playing baseball after college, whether that be professionally or in some other capacity. And I think that their program and his coaching really suited my goals and what I was looking to do in the future.
” Q: What’s your favorite sports memory? A: “My favorite sports memory is definitely hitting my first varsity home run at home against Luverne.” Q: Outside of school and sports, what do you like to do in your free time? ADVERTISEMENT A: “In my free time, I really like listening to music. I play some video games with my friends every now and then.
Otherwise I love fishing and hunting.” To nominate an athlete as a potential Peak Performer, send an email to [email protected].
